Nothing makes my day like finding a bunch of mutant creatures in my mailbox. When I discovered Narcoze was down for sticker trades, I immediately made myself known. Who wouldn't want a piece of the action? What I received far surpassed my expectations. Inside the envelope lay critters with pale scaly skin, fins, and frowns tinged with melancholy and malaise. Based in Knoxville, TN, here's what he writes:
“I started about two years ago with just drawing on stickers. I thought it would be cool to leave a drawing behind for others to see.”
"I tried to come up with a logo and I created a couple but none of them ever lasted. I just like drawing faces and strange characters the best.” "My style is cartoonish most of the time. I make some of my stickers or designs look gruesome because I used to be in love with horror! I like making stickers because you can take the time at home or in an interesting environment to create something interesting. Within a few seconds, you can slap it up on the streets." “That combination of showing strangers your work and maybe even inspiring them is what pushes me to make more everyday.”
Thanks, Narcoze! Check out more of his work on Myspace (keyword "NARCOZE*). To all my stickerheads out there, if you're ever down to kick some stickers my way, please let me know. I have little to nothing to contribute artistically (I believe I've spoken of my poor drawing skills) but I will probably shower you with praise in a post. Deal? Super! Tomorrow's post highlights the fresh crop of talent tagging in a town near my house.
I LOVE Narcoze's work! Great!
